International Noise Awareness Day 2023 – Turn it down

What is noise? How does it occur and how can noise be prevented? Even our little ones are moved by this topic. In the course of their project day two weeks ago, the schoolchildren from the “Am Kaiserholz” kindergarden in Neustadt visited our shipyard.

After the children made themselves comfortable on our apn^® Cube seating cubes in the captain’s lounge, our guests pricked up their little ears and listened attentively to our captain. First came a short “theory unit”: playfully and child-friendly with visual plus auditory examples, our captain took the children on an exciting journey into the world of acoustics.

He illustrated what noise is and what sound waves have to do with the creation of noise. Also why it is so important that we as a company have taken on this problem and how many people as well as departments are needed to manufacture and market the room acoustics solutions. Afterwards, everyone went on a discovery tour through our production halls and offices. There was plenty to marvel at, touch and try out.

The highlight was the final try and craft activity. Among other things, the children were able to try out and experience the effect of sound waves with can telephones. It was sanded, painted and glued with fabric scraps from our upholstery. At the end, every child had their own individual wooden school cone as a souvenir in their hands.

An exciting, informative and fun morning for all came to an end. We are already looking forward to a repeat!
